Newman & Oldwin criminal defense attorneys have an on premises investigative team to provide throrough and complete investigations in every case.  Investigative Services United assists Newman & Oldwin by:

• interviewing witnesses and victims
• conducting background investigations of witnesses and victims
• examining evidence in police custody
• conducting independent investigations of facts and circumstances of every criminal charge

The professional investigators of Investigative Services United have over eight years of criminal investigation experience and have conducted over 1300 investigations.

The lead investigator, Nick Oldwin, formally worked under the direction of senior investigators who have a combined 48 years of investigative experience.  In this capacity, he assisted in over 1500 defense investigations.  Nick Oldwin has investigated over 600 criminal cases in the California State Prison system.  He is an experienced trial witness, having testified for the defense in numerous criminal cases.  Nick Oldwin has served as the primary investigator on 14 homicide cases and has assisted in five other homicide investigations, two of which were capital cases.
